Bug: Broken call to action on the Volunteer page #2983

Describe the bug

The main Call To Action on the Volunteer page is broken and it's not clear to me what the correct link/target should be - this doesn't just feel like a broken link, but possibly an entirely outdated channel

The "Volunteer for the PSF" page at https://www.python.org/psf/volunteer/ says:

You can help out by signing up the psf-volunteers mailing list, which puts you in a pool of people that receive requests from the PSF board when there is work to be done that we cannot handle ourselves.

Sign up here!

The Sign up here link is to http://python.org/mailman/listinfo/psf-volunteers which says

No such list psf-volunteers

There are no Mailman 2.1 lists on mail.python.org. All remining Mailman 2.1 lists were either archived or migrated to Mailman 3 in May of 2025. Go to https://mail.python.org/mailman3/lists/ for information on Mailman 3 lists.

https://mail.python.org/mailman3/lists/ appears to be the correct Mailman, but I see no psf-volunteers in the list and I haven't yet found any evidence that the list still exists - so I'm not even sure where potential volunteers should be going!

To Reproduce

  1. Go to https://www.python.org/psf/volunteer/
  2. Click "Sign up here!"
  3. Observe "No such list psf-volunteers"

Expected behavior

As a potential volunteer, I expect to be able to clearly offer my assistance / sign up somewhere / register interest / etc. - whether by joining a mailing list, filling in a form, joining a Discord, whatever
