Conversation
Add support for fetching API keys dynamically by executing a command.
This is useful for integrating with credential managers, token services,
or any external authentication system.
Example configuration:
{
"provider": {
"my-provider": {
"options": {
"apiKeyCommand": ["my-credential-helper", "get-token"]
}
}
}
}
The command should output the API key to stdout. This is similar to
patterns used by AWS CLI (credential_process) and git (credential.helper).

Ah, I did not see your PR before. I just opened: #8917 Yours is applicable only for providers though. This kind of feature may be needed for some MCPs too, that's why I did go for the "substitution" way. Let's see which approach is privileged by the maintainers. I would be fine with yours too as this is my main usage for now. |

Motivation
Currently, API keys can be provided via:
{env:VAR_NAME}syntax/connectcommand (stored in auth.json)This works well for simple setups, but doesn't support:

{ "provider": { "my-provider": { "options": { "apiKeyCommand": ["my-credential-helper", "get-token"] } } } }The command should output the API key to stdout. The output is trimmed of whitespace.
